Thank You Nutrition Services Staff Working Throughout Summer Months

They are in kitchens and cafeterias throughout the summer months cooking up healthy meals as part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Thank you to all of our hard-working nutrition services staff making sure students have access to a healthy breakfast and lunch every week day during the summer break. These amazing employees are up before dawn to serve up great food with a big side of friendly smiles.

Anyone 18 and younger is welcome to enjoy free breakfast and lunch over the summer at five locations in Jordan School District. The meals are served Monday through Friday, from June 9 to August 1, excluding July 4, 24, and 25.

The free meals are available at the following locations:

  • Majestic Elementary School, 7430 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan
  • Heartland Elementary School, 1451 West 7000 South, West Jordan
  • Westvale Elementary School, 2300 West Gardner Lane, West Jordan
  • Columbia Elementary School, 3503 West 7800 South, West Jordan
  • Oquirrh Elementary School, 7165 Paddington Road, West Jordan
  • Breakfast service is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Lunch service is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

ARUP Thanks JSD High Schools for Saving Lives with Successful Blood Drives in 2024-25 School Year

A big thank you and congratulations to students and staff for their hard work resulting in another great year for ARUP Blood Services blood drives in our high schools. During the 2024-25 school year, JSD high schools hosted 19 blood drives that helped ARUP Blood Services collect 1,322 units of blood.  All the blood collected at the drives stays in Utah to help patients at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital and the University of Utah Hospitals.

Bingham, Herriman, and Mountain Ridge High Schools all broke individual school records with the amount of blood collected in their drives this school year. The blood drive at Copper Hills High on May 14 collected 179 units of blood, which is the biggest blood drive ever at CHHS and ARUP’s biggest school blood drive ever!

We are proud of this life-saving work and commitment on the part of students to support ARUP.

West Jordan Softball Coach Named Deseret News Female Coach of the Year

West Jordan High School softball coach McHailee Danner was named the 2025 Female Coach of the Year at the Deseret News High School Sports Awards. Danner was presented with the trophy and a check for $1000 from America First Credit Union at a banquet at The Ballpark at America First Square

Danner just finished her second season as the head coach for the Jaguars and piloted the team to the UHSAA 5A State Championship in softball, West Jordan’s first-ever girls state championship in the school’s 44-year history.

Herriman Relay Team Breaks National Record

The Herriman High School relay team of Jonah Tang, Micah Tang, Tayshaun Ogomo, and Jackson Spencer broke the National High School Record in the 4 x 800-meter relay at the New Balance Nationals track and field meet in Philadelphia.

Jonah Tang started the relay off with a 1:54.74 in the first leg, handing the baton to his identical twin brother Micah, who ran a 1:52:52 in the second leg. Ogomo put the team in front with a 1:48:94 third leg and Spencer put in a 1:49:94 anchor to combine for a blistering 7:26:12. The time bested the 14-year-old National High School record of 7:28:75 set by Poly High School of Long Beach, California by over two seconds and finished over six seconds ahead of their nearest competitors at Nationals.

Congratulations to Jonah, Micah, Tayshaun, and Jackson, as well as Track & Field Coach Doug Soles on a tremendous accomplishment!
