Foothills Elementary Teacher Recognized as Jordan School District DLI Teacher of the Year

Mr. Tao with students at Foothills Elementary School Liangli Tao, a Chinese Dual Language Immersion (DLI) teacher at Foothills Elementary School, has been named Jordan School District’s DLI Teacher of the Year. Mr. Tao, who has taught first and sixth grade at Foothills, is widely recognized for his unmatched energy, passion, and dedication to his students. Families at the school appreciate how he brings language and culture to life in ways that leave a lasting impact. Principal Abe Yospe says, “Mr. Tao exemplifies the school’s staff motto of ‘Be Awesome for Kids!’ He is a leader amongst the teachers at Foothills and his DLI peers in the District.”

High School Students Showcase Creativity at CTE Design Fusion Event

Jordan School District High School students gathered at the JATC South to showcase their unique artistic creations at the JSD Design Fusion Showcase. Works from students in advanced CTE design-related courses, including fashion, interior design, and floral design, were on display. Students displayed mood boards for their dream homes and discussed their favorite fabric choices with their peers to celebrate their end-of-year projects.

Attendees were also able to engage with industry professionals, putting their work in front of potential future employers. Outstanding work from all these budding future designers!

Fort Herriman Student Named Ambassador for Peace by Utah State School Board

Fort Herriman Student Named Ambassador for Peace by Utah State Board of Education Congratulations to Abigail Owens of Fort Herriman Middle School, who has proudly been named Utah’s distinguished finalist, or “Ambassador for Peace,” for the 2025 “Do The Write Thing” scholarship program. This recognition highlights her exceptional writing and deep understanding of the impacts of violence in today’s society.

The “Do The Write Thing Challenge,” sponsored by the Utah State Board of Education Prevention and the National Campaign to Stop Violence, provides seventh and eighth grade students with an opportunity to reflect on how violence affects their lives and communities and what they think can be done to create a safer environment for youth.

Great job, Abigail, for exemplifying what it means to be an “Ambassador for Peace.” You serve as an inspiration for everyone in our state.

JATC Student Greenhouse Annual Spring Plant Sale

JATC Greenhouse Plant Sale Students and staff at the JATC South Student Greenhouse have been busy preparing for their Spring Sale. There is an assortment of annuals, perennials, baskets, herbs, and vegetables for sale. All proceeds go to support the JATC Student Greenhouse.

Days: Monday – Friday, starting May 1, until plants run out.
Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
