Student Science Project Goes International

Copper Hills senior Justin Ngo is already a Sterling Scholar, but that is just part of his success story. Ngo recently took first place at the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair. Justin’s project entitled “Wind Lens Innovation: Maximizing Wind Turbine Efficiency” was based on a design by Japanese scientists. But Justin enhanced the original model, making it even better. That got him a first place award, a trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, and an $80,000 Westminster College scholarship. But the accolades don’t stop there. Justin’s project also caught the attention of the military; he received an award from the U.S. Navy.  We are proud of Justin and 43 other District students who placed at the fair and received cash prizes.
