Herriman High Proud to Host Special Olympics

The Herriman High School Track and Field team volunteered to take on a very important assignment: hosting the Special Olympics Utah Summer Games. The games involve 1,500 athletes of all ages, from all over Utah, competing in dozens of events. Qualifying sessions were held in May leading up to the big state competition in Jordan School District at Herriman High. Also, prior to the games, 1,200 law enforcement officers carried the ‘Flame of Hope’ across the state . You could see the spirit of competition and joy in the faces of those who participated. The top three winners in each event received a gold, silver or bronze medal. Everyone who finished received a ribbon, and warm congratulations from a crowd of people who understand why these games are so special. The Utah Special Olympics run June 7 – 9 at Herriman High.★
