West Jordan Middle Staff Recognized for Going the ‘Extra Mile’

RS3_4918RS3_4909Every year the City of West Jordan joins hundreds of cities across the nation to recognize people who go the ‘Extra Mile’ to make a difference in their community. This year, West Jordan Middle School was recognized for doing a heroic good deed. Principal Dixie Garrison, Assistant Principal Eric Price, Special Education Instructor Lucia Evans and Resource Officer David Hood went the ‘Extra Mile’ saving the life of student Skyler Nelson when he collapsed and his heart stopped during gym class at school. Nelson had an undiagnosed heart condition that could have taken his life, but the middle school team made all the difference by performing CPR and helping to give Skyler a second chance. Today Skyler is back at school and doing well thanks to these dedicated employees who went the ‘Extra Mile’ and had a lasting impact on a young life.
