As West Jordan High School students gathered for the kick-off of their holiday fundraising event, they got a big surprise. The lead singer from Imagine Dragons, Dan Reynolds, appeared on the big screen and talked to the student body via Skype.
Reynolds thanked them for choosing to raise money for the charity his band founded, The Tyler Robinson Foundation. At 16-year-old and battling cancer, Tyler Robinson was a big fan of Imagine Dragons. The band befriended Tyler and followed the Sandy, Utah teen’s courageous cancer battle until the day he died.
The foundation now helps families pay for the many expensive costs associated with fighting cancer. Last year, West Jordan High students raised $40,000 for The Tyler Robinson Foundation and they hope to raise at least that much again this year.
When asked what message he would send to students, Reynolds told the student body to be accepting of people from all backgrounds and treat everyone with love and respect.
