FUN FACT FRIDAY: STEM Going Strong in JSD!

Students Learning About ElectronicsThanks to the hard work and dedication of curriculum staff and teachers in our schools, the District is leading the way in science, technology, engineering and math education (STEM).

This year they were able to secure grants totaling 1,059,000! This money is providing for new initiatives getting more students excited about S.T.E.M. pathways leading to successful careers. Here are a few examples:

  • A District-wide STEM Challenge involving 1,800 students
  • STEM Academy programs at three middle schools
  • After school Robotics programs at four middle schools
  • Expansion of STEM Days and STEM Family Nights at schools
  • A District-wide STEM Community Night
  • Additional STEM professional development for teachers
