Parents Receive Training to Become radKIDS Certified Instructors

Parents performing self-defense moves during radKID training‘Building a safer world for children’ is the mantra of radKIDS, a personal empowerment safety education program designed to provide children and parents knowledge and skills to protect themselves from violence and harm.

Recently, approximately 25 parents received training at Eastlake Elementary from radKIDS Executive Director Steve Daley. The training will allow the parents to become certified instructors for the program in Jordan School District schools.

The five-day, 40-hour instructor certification program showed parents how to effectively present the radKIDS curriculum to elementary students. Upon completing the program, parents will be able to demonstrate and teach techniques, while empowering children to avoid, resist and escape violence and harm, should they encounter a situation.

Topics covered in the radKIDS curriculum include Home, School and Vehicle Safety; Out and About Safety; Bullying Prevention; Realistic Defense Against Abduction; Personal Space/Personal Touch Safety and more.
