Think Safety First During Demolition of Pedestrian Bridge

Pedestrian bridge over Bangerter HighwayUDOT will be removing the existing pedestrian bridge at 7000 South and Bangerter Highway this weekend. During the work, everyone is encouraged to stay away from the demolition site, especially children who may be accustomed to using the pedestrian bridge to cross Bangerter Highway on the way to and from school. Safety is a top priority for everyone involved.

Bangerter Highway will be closed Saturday, June 10 at 11 p.m., through Sunday, June 11 at 8 a.m., from 7000 South to 7800 South in both directions for the bridge removal. Salt Lake County plans to repurpose the bridge within the county.

There will be no pedestrian crossing at the intersection of 7000 South and Bangerter Highway beginning June 8. The new pedestrian bridge is scheduled to be ready for use in early fall for the 2017-18 school year. UDOT is partnering with the Jordan School District to provide a temporary construction shuttle for Oquirrh Elementary students who will be attending summer school programs at the school.

Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe.
