Custodians Work Hard to Welcome Back Students & Staff

Custodian cleaning lockerThere is no summer break for custodians in Jordan School District who do some of their hardest work in the heat of summer. In all, our custodians, along with summer sweepers, have been cleaning more than 7 million square feet of building space District-wide including carpets, floors, desks, chairs, bathrooms and light fixtures. That is like cleaning about 2,500 average sized homes! They also clean more than 28,000 lockers inside and out at our secondary schools alone.

It’s an impressive feat considering some only had a few weeks to work around very extensive construction and remodel projects. In addition, they maintain 440 acres of sprinkling systems and 240 portable classrooms. And if you walk into any gymnasium you know the floors absolutely shine because of summer refinishing and polishing work that is done on 234,906 square feet of gym floors in secondary schools and 22,457 square feet in other schools and buildings.

We appreciate the hard work of our custodians over the summer months and throughout the year. Thank you for making our schools and offices such a welcoming place for students, staff and patrons.

Take a minute to thank your custodian for all they do and for their dedication to the job. Enjoy a photo gallery on our Facebook page.
