RSL’s Leo the Lion Surprises Southland Elementary Student Battling Leukemia

Leo the Lion from RSL poses with Southland student and familyKohen Church is in the second grade at Southland Elementary and he loves to attend school, but that has been challenging for the 8-year-old recently because Kohen is battling leukemia.

Nonetheless, when Southland held its annual Jog-A-Thon, Kohen wanted to participate, despite the fact that it might be somewhat difficult because of his cancer. To help Kohen out, RSL’s Leo the Lion made a surprise visit to the school to run laps with this brave little boy and to give him a piggyback ride around the track if needed.

It was a heartwarming gesture for a little boy who has been through so much, but never wants to be left out of events at the school he loves. Leo the Lion  also presented Kohen with a RSL jersey and a ‘Our Goal is a Cure’ scarf.

Thank you, REAL Salt Lake and Leo the Lion, for supporting Kohen, putting a smile on his face and entertaining his classmates as well.
