Westvale Elementary Students Lend a Hand to School-wide Art Project

Mural of tree at Westvale ElementaryWhen Westvale Elementary School art teacher Rachel Henderson asked all the students at the school to “lend her a hand” with a project, they did, figuratively speaking.

During the first weeks of school, students traced, cut, colored and personalized “hands” from construction paper. The hands resemble leaves of a tree. The leaves were then arranged by grade level on the huge tree, creating a mural displayed near the main office of the school. Each grade represented a color on the tree and includes the dedication, “We are each unique and beautiful, but together we are a masterpiece!”

This delightful piece of art will be on display for several weeks to come, showcasing the talent, diversity and unity of the students at Westvale.
