Board Approves Resolution Calling for Special Bond Election
The Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution calling for a local special bond election on November 8, 2016. The proposed bond is for $245 million and would be used to build six new schools in areas that are experiencing the most extreme growth in the District. One of the six new schools would be the re-building of West Jordan Middle at its current location. This bond would cost the average homeowner $16.80 a year. Projections show that Jordan School District will grow by 9,251 students over the next five years.
Vicki Olsen, JEA President, gave public input on the bond election resolution. She thanked Board members for their willingness to listen concerning the needs of teachers and said the JEA endorses the bond.
