Butterfield Canyon Student Artwork Sends Important Safety Message

Picture of art competition winnersStudents at Butterfield Canyon Elementary School recently joined forces with Unified Police participating in an art competition aimed at creating safety awareness. The ‘Kids & Cops Art Competition’ is a way to help foster a relationship of trust and mutual respect between law enforcement and the community through art. Students in the competition were asked to create an original piece of art to support reducing violence, bullying and drugs and discouraging unsafe practices like texting and driving. Butterfield Canyon’s Beverley Taylor Sorenson Art Teacher, April Barnes provided mini lessons on the safety topics and made it possible for all students at the school to participate in the competition. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done and partnering with police to educate the community about the importance of practicing safety together.
