Students saluted veterans from all branches of the military during a special patriotic program at Hayden Peak Elementary School. Throughout the program called “Freedom is Not Free” parents and grandparents who served or are currently serving our country were thanked for their sacrifices and service.
Visitors to Hayden Peak were greeted by flag-bearing Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at the entrance to the school and thanked for their service.
The program began with a rousing rendition of “You’re a Grand Old Flag” as students paraded onto the stage with flags waving. Then, students led the audience in the “Pledge of Allegiance” and in the singing of “The Star Spangled Banner,” “This Land is Your Land,” “God Bless America,” a medley of the military songs affiliated with each branch and other patriotic songs. Students also read poems and performed short skits to honor the proud vets.
The program is a great reminder to all of us what a special opportunity Veterans Day is to offer our gratitude to all those who serve.
