Before the rush of the holiday season set in, Whitley Kidd, a sixth grade student at Oakcrest Elementary, wanted to help bring joy to others in some small way. So, she enlisted the help for her entire class asking them to participate in a small act of kindness for senior citizens who might be alone or without loved ones for the holidays. She asked classmates to design homemade Christmas cards for residents at a local senior center. Then one night as the seniors gathered for dinner, Whitley surprised them by personally delivering the cards with messages of holiday happiness, joy and good will. It was a small act of kindness that brought big smiles to those who received the precious gift of a homemade Christmas card.
