Jim Jaramillo has been teaching history at West Jordan High School for 32 years and he has experienced a lot in that time. But the surprise of a lifetime recently came when Mr. Jaramillo received a call from his alma mater BYU, inviting him to tour the athletic facility on campus. You see Jim Jaramillo played basketball for BYU from 1978 to 1981 – but because of injuries, he was not able to play his senior year and didn’t attend his final home game.
When Mr. Jaramillo showed up at BYU for his athletic facility tour, he was met by several BYU coaches, including football coach, Kalani Sitake who presented Jim with the senior blanket he should have received 40 years ago when he was on the BYU basketball team. It was a touching moment that brought big smiles all around.
Mr. Jaramillo is currently the girls soccer coach at WJHS and has led the team to several state titles.
