For these reasons, Victoria was recently honored with the Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Leadership Award from the University of Utah. In being awarded with this prestigious honor, Victoria received recommendations about her devotion to the school and her community. She also wrote an essay highlighting her background and accomplishments, demonstrating her successes in building bridges among cultures and communities, while enacting positive change and social action.
Her involvement in numerous leadership groups at West Jordan Middle makes her a positive example for the West Jordan community. Victoria also volunteers at the local women’s shelter for domestic violence, serving an average of 20 hours a week. On top of her volunteering service she works part-time as a sweeper at the school!
Victoria was one of several students from across the state to be honored. Her award includes a plaque, along with consideration for future scholarships at the university.
