Student safety is a top priority in Jordan School District. With that in mind, we want families to be aware of resources available for reporting concerns about someone in crisis and about suicide prevention, even when school is not in session.
The Jordan Family Education Center provides free counseling services to students of all ages and adults in Jordan School District. They can be contacted at 801-565-7442.
The SafeUT Smartphone App is a free and confidential way to report issues of school violence, bullying or concerns about someone in crisis. We encourage you to learn more at https://healthcare.utah.edu/uni/clinical-services/safe-ut/. The reports will go directly to administrators and counselors who can respond during and after school hours and on weekends.
The Utah Suicide Prevention Coalition has valuable information for families regarding suicide prevention, warning signs to watch for and reporting advice. You can access that information at https://utahsuicideprevention.org/
The State Board of Education offers resources, which can be found at https://www.uen.org/suicideprevention/
Additionally, Jordan School District will be offering educational information meetings and trainings led by a national suicide prevention expert and certified school psychologist, Dr. Scott Poland. This will be offered to students, staff and parents district-wide. A meeting for families will be held on Monday, April 16, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Riverton High School. We invite everyone to attend this important meeting. More information will be forthcoming.
Thank you for your support in helping keep students safe.
