Midas Creek Students Making a Difference with Successful Food Drive

Student with food donationsIt was an idea hatched by the Midas Creek Elementary School Leader in Me student leadership team. They wanted to do something to help children and families who simply don’t have enough  food to eat. So they organized a food drive, which they called “Let’s Get Cruisin,” and rallied to bring in as much donated food as possible in just five days.

The entire student body got to work and managed to bring in 6,546 non-perishable food items, filling seven Utah Food Bank barrels and one super sized box, all in one week! Mrs. Blaney’s 4th grade class brought in the most food with 560 items and Miss Davis’s 5th grade class came in second with 430 items. The winning class in each grade will be treated to ice cream.

Way to go Midas Creek! Your kind hearts and hard work will make a difference in the lives of children and families throughout Utah.
