There are more small acts of kindness going on in classrooms, in the halls and inside the lunchroom at West Hills Middle School this year. Students say it is, in part, due to a campaign called ‘Be The Change,’ that really is changing the culture and climate at school. More than 800 students have signed the pledge to ‘Be The Change,’ and they are committed to offering friendship to students who feel left out or alone. They also pledge to respect everyone despite differences and never participate in bullying behavior. Principal Stacy Evans says even teachers, administrators and staff feel more kindness coming their way and there have been fewer disciplinary actions at the school this year.
We applaud West Hills Middle School for spreading kindness and pledging to do away with bullying behavior by pledging to ‘Be The Change.’
