District Donates School Buses for Use in Heavy Rescue Training

Various firefighters breaking out front of busRather than retire about a dozen old school buses to a junkyard, Jordan School District is offering them up to local first responders for some serious heavy rescue training.

The West Jordan Fire Department and a valley-wide heavy rescue team will use the buses to simulate dangerous situations where lives are on the line. For example, they will have a rollover scenario where the bus has tipped on its side, use the Jaws of Life and break windows in an effort to rescue victims trapped inside.

This is valuable training that could lead to lives saved in emergency situations on the bus.
