Mayor Makes Learning About City Government Fun for Students

Group picture of students and Mayor RamseySome Eastlake Elementary School students were temporarily transformed into city employees without even leaving the gymnasium. It was all thanks to South Jordan City Mayor Dawn Ramsey, who led a ‘Community Heroes’ assembly. It was an assembly designed to give students a lesson in the people, the heroes and their jobs that contribute to the success of a city. Mayor Ramsey had children dress up and be transformed into various city employees, everything from city engineers, firefighters, police and city planners to courts employees and crossing guards. The mayor described how every job is important to the city and she inspired students to someday use their own talents to contribute to the overall success of South Jordan.

Thank you, mayor, for taking time to educate students about the city in which they live.
