Foothills Elementary Educator is Selected for KSL Teacher Feature

Sara Jo Martin is someone who puts her heart into her work as an educator each and every day. Now, she is being recognized for that dedication in this month’s KSL Teacher Feature.

According to Principal Cherie Wilson, Ms. Martin was selected for the KSL Teacher Feature because of her dedication to students and their learning! After 30 years of teaching, she retired and then came back to teaching at Foothills.

In January 2017, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ms. Martin was courageous and continued to teach during her treatments. She would teach her morning kindergarten class and then go to the hospital for treatments during lunch. She would then go back to Foothills and teach her afternoon class.

In June of this year, she was given the all clear and declared free from cancer. Ms. Martin is a wonderful, beloved teacher at Foothills and Principal Wilson says they are honored to have her.

Ms. Martin is loved by her colleagues, students, and families in the Foothills community. We are proud of Sara Jo for receiving this award! It is well deserved!
