They were celebrating all things science as more than 800 students and their families gathered for a fabulous, fun night of learning at Oquirrh Elementary School. Student ambassadors from the University of Utah engaged parents and their children in a variety of hands-on STEM experiments in chemistry, math, biology, medicine and physics during Family Science Night. Some of the experiments included pulling DNA out of strawberries, using liquid nitrogen to make ice cream, analyzing blood through a microscope and creating electricity using fruits, vegetables and wool.
Each student participated in a least two experiments and received a family science kit to celebrate their success. Everyone was also treated to a pizza dinner.
Thanks to everyone for supporting such a fun and engaging STEM event!
