It is not every day that a fifth grade student designs something that will be seen throughout her city on a daily basis – but that is exactly what Herriman Elementary School’s Avery Evans did. Last year Avery entered a contest sponsored by the Herriman City Police Department. Students were asked to submit designs for the department’s new DARE jeep.
There were about 1,000 entries submitted and Avery’s design was selected as the winner and it is now on the side of the new DARE jeep for all to see.
Officer Jake Cutright, along with other Herriman City officials, came to school to surprise and congratulate Avery on her achievement.
What a wonderful opportunity for a very talented young student.
Way to go, Avery!
