West Jordan Middle School 7th-graders are assigned every year to send letters to famous people to help them with their formal writing skills. Many students write to their sports heroes and favorite celebrities, asking questions about their personal lives, or seeking autographs. For many of the students, this is their first time mailing a letter.
So far, some of the notable responses have been from sports teams and actor Chris Pratt, who sent a signed autograph from his movie “Guardians of the Galaxy.” The Utah Jazz and Real Salt Lake sent students swag bags and tickets to their games. Teachers say responses to the letters will continue to trickle in for the rest of the school year.
