Monte Vista First-Grade Student Heading to National Reflections Finals in 2D Art

Picture of BauerBauer Warner took up the art of drawing a year ago and already he is on his way to success competing on a national stage. Bauer, a first-grade student, recently won the state Reflections Visual Arts category with an Excellence Award in 2D visual arts. Now, his 2D piece, which actually looks 3D, will compete at the national level. Just one student per category/age division advances to the national competition so this is an extraordinary accomplishment.

Bauer says he wanted his drawing to look like an illusion or mind trick. He used Sharpies, pencils, and a ruler to create the piece titled “I Matter Because I’m Multi-Dimensional.”

Congratulations, Bauer and best of luck at the national competition!
