Copper Hills High Teacher Honored by Utah State House and Senate

Rae Boren "claps" with her students and classroom guestsIt was an exciting morning in Rae Boren’s American Sign Language (ALS) classroom at Copper Hills High School. That’s because she had some very special guests stop by to say thank you and recognize Ms. Boren as Utah’s “Teacher of the Year” runner-up.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydnee Dickson was joined in the classroom by State Senator Kathleen Riebe and Representative Carol Spackman Moss along with Jordan School District Superintendent Anthony Godfrey. They thanked Ms. Boren for her 20 years of teaching and mentoring in Jordan School District and told students how lucky they are to have such an amazing teacher. Representative Moss said teaching is a gift that keeps on giving and there is no greater gift than a “gifted teacher.”

Ms. Boren was recognized by the State House and Senate with a certificate honoring her as an exemplary educator who has a positive impact on the lives of students.

Congratulations, Rae Boren! We are very proud of the work you do each and every day.
