They have demonstrated strength and resilience in a school year filled with challenges and uncertainty. Jordan School District is proud to congratulate our 2021 Resilient Utah Education Shield Award winners.
Monte Vista Elementary School was selected as the recipient of the award for Exemplary Elementary School. The school was selected, in part, because of its focus on student and staff health and wellness. Monte Vista opened a Wellness Room which is used on a daily basis giving students the tools they need to stay calm, relax and be better learners.
Retta Erwin, a licensed social worker at West Jordan Middle School, received the award for Exemplary Wellness Professional for her tireless work in building lasting resilience in students. Principal Dixie Garrison said that Ms. Erwin is always giving students tools to cope and seeing to their health, wellness and safety.
