Elected Officials Take Time to Visit Classrooms and Engage with Students

Elected officials talk with studentsStudents at two schools in JSD recently had some special guests in their classrooms; a local mayor, congressman and member of the Jordan School District Board of Education.

Bluffdale Mayor Derk Timothy, United States Representative Burgess Owens and Board of Education President Tracy Miller made stops at both Bluffdale Elementary School and Riverton High School. At Bluffdale Elementary they visited a 5th grade classroom where students were studying United States government. The officials also spent time in a Portuguese DLI classroom. Students were able to engage with the elected officials and ask questions.

Then, it was on to Riverton High School and a stop inside a U.S. Government classroom with the guests taking more time to engage and answer questions.

It was a fun and educational morning for everyone. Thanks to our elected officials for taking time out of their very busy schedules to see the learning happening inside our schools.
