It was an unforgettable morning for Terra Linda Elementary School Assistant Principal Yajaira Martinez. That’s because the entire school, along with family and friends, gathered to give her the surprise of a lifetime. After reviewing nominations from schools in districts across the State, the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals selected Ms. Martinez as “Assistant Principal of the Year.”
Those on hand to honor Mrs. Martinez said she always looks out for what is best for students. They said they are excited to see what she will accomplish as the school’s new principal next year, replacing Principal Gorringe who is retiring.
Mrs. Martinez thanked everyone and told students that she knows what it’s like to struggle in school, but she encouraged them to never quit. She said any student can accomplish whatever it is they dream of becoming as long as they try their hardest every day.
