Lt. Governor Gets First-Hand Look Inside Virtual Schools Preparing to Open in Jordan School District for 2021-22 School Year

It was an exciting day for some students and teachers in Jordan School District as Lt. Governor Diedre Henderson took time out of her busy schedule to meet with them.

The Lt. Governor spent part of Friday afternoon learning what the experience will be like for students and teachers in three brand new virtual schools preparing to open for the 2021-22 school year in Jordan School District. Rocky Peak Virtual Elementary School, Kelsey Peak Virtual Middle School and Kings Peak High School are all in the process of training teachers and enrolling students.

The Lt. Governor was able to visit kindergarten and fifth-grade virtual classrooms as teachers and students demonstrated what the online learning program will look like at Rocky Peak Virtual Elementary School. Ms. Henderson also had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the online teachers and students. In addition, she stopped by a Hidden Valley Middle School coding, computer tech. and engineering class.

Some students enrolled at the Jordan Academy for Technology and Careers (JATC) South Campus also had a chance to meet the Lt. Governor. Students in the Welding Program explained the importance of establishing a career pathway while in high school. They also demonstrated some of the welding skills they are learning which will prepare them for promising careers.
