Bingham High School Teacher Gives Students Fun, First Day Fashion Design Experience with Garbage Bag Fashion Show

Bingham High School Family and Consumer Science teacher Angela Anderson wanted to start the new school year off with something fun and memorable teaching her students fashion design. So, she came up with the idea to have students design outfits out of garbage bags and duct tape.

It was an effort to engage students in learning right away with a hands-on designing experience.  Ms. Anderson also wanted her students to get to know one other by working in groups together. Each group received 1 to 3 garbage bags along with duct tape to tailor the trash bags into something spectacular.

The students put their creative clothing minds together and did a great job. At the end of class Ms. Anderson rolled out a “red carpet” (red butcher paper) and students got to walk the runway with music playing while everyone cheered for them.

Way to go, Ms. Anderson and students, for creating a unique fashion line and finding a way to make learning lots of fun!
