Heroes Among Us

Join the Jordan Equity, Diversity & Inclusion program on January 10 at 4 p.m. for an evening of inspiring stories at “Heroes Among Us.” Hear how six remarkable individuals have shown unwavering dedication to the community. These heroes will be honored and recognized for their hard work, compassion, and relentless drive. 

Speakers for the event are:

  • Melissa Flores, Esquire, is an attorney and the daughter of Brazilian and Mexican immigrants. 
  • Bev Uipi, MPA, is The first Tongan-American woman elected to any Utah seat. 
  • Dr. Sheldon Russell is a teacher, Powerlifter, and world record holder. 
  • Carlos Moreno is a political activist and an adult immigrant from Venezuela. 
  • Phil Uipi, JD, is the first Tongan elected to the Utah State Legislature. 
  • Dr. Adam Hiné is a dentist and son of West African and Haitian immigrants. 

Hear about the speaker’s struggles, successes, and life lessons. They will answer questions about mentoring, career paths, and internship opportunities.
