Terra Linda Milers: Running Toward Healthy Minds and Bodies

At Terra Linda Elementary School, a spirited new program is helping students kickstart their morning in a fun and healthy way. The Terra Linda Milers, initiated by educator Susanne Creer, encourages students to run laps around the school field before classes begin. The program promotes physical fitness and fosters bonds with families, as parents are encouraged to run and cheer on their students.

Students track their laps using a barcode that staff records each time they go around the field. The runners are then eligible for prizes for their laps and can see their progress over time. The staff also plays music and cheers on the students to encourage them to complete their runs.
