Virtual Learning Day on Tuesday, April 4

Winter Weather Warning IconDue to adverse travel conditions and unplowed streets in many areas of the District, along with predictions by the National Weather Service of additional significant snow accumulations throughout the day, Tuesday, April 4, will be a virtual learning day for all students in Jordan School District. 

All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, April 4. 

There will be no in-person learning in our schools on Tuesday. No meals, no preschool, and no daycare will be provided. Teachers will be available to meet with students virtually between 10 a.m. and noon. Schools will communicate how to best connect with teachers and will share any additional schedule information.

District crews and contracted services will continue to clear snow throughout the day. A decision will be made regarding after-school and extracurricular activities by 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Winter Weather Warning IconDue to adverse travel conditions, snowed-in buses, unplowed streets in many areas of the District, snowdrifts, and unprecedented accumulations of snow on school parking lots and sidewalks, Thursday, February 23, will be a virtual learning day for all students in Jordan School District.

All schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, February 23. 

There will be no in-person learning in our schools on Thursday. No meals, no preschool, and no daycare will be provided. Teachers will be available to meet with students virtually between 10 a.m. and noon. Schools will communicate how to best connect with teachers and will share any additional schedule information.

District crews and contracted services will continue to clear snow throughout the day. We anticipate after-school and extracurricular activities at high schools will proceed on a regular schedule Thursday afternoon and evening.

Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences can be held virtually or by phone on Thursday, February 23. Schools may reschedule conferences as needed. Conferences will NOT be held in person on Thursday. More information will be provided by your school or teacher.

Secondary classes will resume on a regular late start Friday schedule, February 24. Elementary schools and Kauri Sue Hamilton will not be in session on Friday (as previously scheduled).

All schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 22.

There will be no in-person learning in our schools on Wednesday. No meals, no preschool, and no daycare will be provided. Teachers will be available to meet with students virtually between 10 a.m. and noon. Schools will communicate how to best connect with teachers and will share any additional schedule information.

Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held virtually or by phone on Wednesday, February 22. Conferences will NOT be held in person on Wednesday. More information will be provided by your school or teacher.

The District will make an announcement regarding the status of Wednesday after-school and extracurricular activities by 1 p.m. that day.

Election of Officers and Oath of Office for Board of Education Members

Current Board member Tracy Miller (District 3), along with new Board members Brian Barnett (District 2) and Lisa Dean (District 7) officially took the Oath of Office and were sworn in for a four-year term Tuesday evening. Salt Lake County Clerk Lannie Chapman administered the Oath. Friends, family, local elected officials and members of the community were on hand to congratulate the Board members on their election and willingness to serve on behalf of Jordan School District.

The election of Board officers was also held with Tracy Miller elected Board President, Niki George, First Vice President, and Darrell Robinson, Second Vice President.

Philosophy of Instruction Policy Open House

The Jordan School District Board of Education is seeking public input on possible revisions to Administrative Policy D200 Philosophy of Instruction. This policy is being merged with AA410 Controversial Issues.

The Board will hold an open house to receive input on Tuesday, August 30, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Riverton High in the school’s tech atrium. Riverton High School is located at 12476 S. Silverwolf Way (2700 West).
