Hope Week Spreads Message of Resilience at South Hills Middle School

It is a week offering hope and inspiration to students at South Hills Middle School. Hope Squad members selected a special theme for their Hope Week this year. The theme is “Hope, Love, Rodeo.” in honor of their kick off assembly’s guest speaker, Amberley Snyder.

Ms. Snyder is a championship barrel racer, who in 2010, was in a car crash that paralyzed her from the waist down. She adapted to the injury and kept competing. Her goals in physical therapy were “Walk, Ride, Rodeo.” Now Amberley Snyder shares her message of faith and determination hoping to open others to the possibilities of happiness, regardless of your life situation. She motivates people to set goals in order to overcome challenges. She told South Hills students that the little moments in her life have shaped her into a successful speaker and a rodeo competitor.

Thanks to members of the South Hills Middle School Hope Squad for their work in lifting students, sharing hope and love during Hope Week and every day.

Schools Celebrate National School Breakfast Week with Fun Theme and Healthy Food

It was a breakfast service like no other at Ridge View Elementary School. That’s because the cafeteria staff got their groove on with a “Surf’s Up with School Breakfast” theme, and served up smiles and great food in style. It was part of National School Breakfast Week, which celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for learning and success.

National School Breakfast week is observed the first week of March and recognizes our school breakfast programs and the many ways the programs give kids a great start to every day, along with the big side of smiles they get from cafeteria staff.

Great job, Ridgeview cafeteria staff, for making breakfast fun, delicious, and nutritious, for students, teachers, and staff!

JSD Student Body Officers Get First-Hand Look at State Legislative Process

Jordan School District SBOs on the State Capitol Steps During the recent legislative session, all Jordan School District secondary schools sent student body officers to tour the Utah State Capitol. The visit provided the students with a first-hand look at the inner workings of State government and the legislative process.

The tour also allowed the student body officers to interact with government employees and elected officials. The students sat with lawmakers as several bills were debated and asked questions of them during the process. They gained valuable insight into how laws are passed in Utah and how public policy is formed.

Thank you to all the lawmakers and State Capitol staff who helped make this a memorable and enlightening visit for Jordan School District students.
