Mission
To guide and empower every student to become an active learner who thinks critically, collaborates with respect, and connects compassionately in order to prepare them for future growth in school and the world.

School Highlights
The faculty at Herriman Elementary includes 36 certified teachers. Several teachers have advanced degrees and educational endorsements beyond their regular teaching certificate. Teachers actively participate in professional development courses to improve instructional skills.

Instruction in each grade follows the Utah State Core Standards.

• Our school has qualified teachers and paraprofessionals who provide academic support to students who qualify under IDEA.
• A speech language pathologist is also on staff for students who qualify for speech services through an IEP.
• A School Psychologist is available to provide social/emotional support through small group counseling or individual consultations as needed.
• A School Counselor is on staff to provide social/emotional support to students and provide monthly SEL lessons in classrooms.
• Our school provides weekly lessons in social/emotional learning through a district-approved curriculum.
• Herriman Elementary is a Spanish dual immersion school.  Dual language immersion provides a rich bilingual experience for young learners.  Students develop the ability to speak, read, write, and understand the Spanish language and culture.  Please contact our office for more information about this program.
• Herriman Elementary is home to a social emotional behavior unit.  Students in this program are provided with structure, support, and strategies to enable them to be more successful at school.
• Herriman Elementary is a Professional Learning Community where teachers work collaboratively in teams to meet individual student learning needs by providing additional support, intervention, and enrichment.
• Herriman Elementary’s School Community Council is composed of four parents, a teacher, and the principal. The group reviews school data, approves important school budgets, and gives input on vital school issues.
• The PTA actively helps our students succeed in school. PTA volunteers spend many extra hours to help provide many enrichment activities to make our school a success.
• Herriman Elementary supports and follows District student policies including but not limited to:  dress code, student discipline, and electronics policies.
• We are committed to promoting student well being through multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).  Rules are clear and uniformly enforced.  Teachers can consult with the school’s MTSS team when they have student concerns.  We provide a wellness room that students can access as needed.
• Our school uses Panorama surveys to gather information about student wellness and feelings of belonging to inform our practice and help identify needs and strengths.
• Student discipline and safety concerns will be collaboratively discussed and resolved by parent, administration, teacher, and all other involved stakeholders.
• Student safety is our top priority.  We follow all District guidelines regarding safety.
• Nutritious, well-balanced lunches are served each day and healthy eating is encouraged.
• Bus service is provided for all students who qualify.

Visitors are always welcome at Herriman Elementary. For safety purposes Utah State Law requires all visitors to sign in at the office prior to conducting business in the school. The Herriman staff is happy to assist visitors and eager to help new students feel at home.
