It was a big day for Miner basketball as both Bingham teams prevailed in thrilling fashion in the 6A state basketball tournament. Luke West scored 42 points to lead the boys’ team to a 69-67 victory over Mountain Ridge. The girls’ team trailed Cedar Valley by 10 points with five minutes remaining, but rallied for a 60-57 victory over the Aviators thanks in part to 16 second-half points from Evalyn Roberts.
Both teams will play in the semifinals on Thursday, aiming to secure a spot in the state championship game. Bingham girls face Syracuse at 12:30 pm, while the boys will take on American Fork at 9 p.m.
