Jordan School District Outstanding Educators Honored at Salt Lake City Stars Game

Outstanding Educators honored at SLC Stars gameIt was a great night for fans and players at a recent Salt Lake City Stars basketball game. The team took to the court coming out on top in their game against the Austin Spurs.

But some might say the biggest winners of the night were educators. The Salt Lake City Stars invited the Jordan Education Foundation “Outstanding Educators of the Year,” and the “Outstanding Principal of the Year,” to be recognized on court in front of a supportive and cheering crowd.

Congratulations to these deserving educators for the honor of being recognized and for the important work they do for students in classrooms throughout Jordan School District every single day.

Thank you to the Salt Lake City Stars for making sure educators know how much they are appreciated. Go Stars!

Special Education Transition Fair is Fun and Full of Valuable Information for Families

It was an evening focused on families to support students and their individual needs. The Jordan School District Special Education Transition Fair was recently held at West Jordan Middle School and, thanks to everyone involved, it was a great success! The goal of this annual event was to provide special education students and their families with information and resources on transition services from a variety of outside agencies.

Approximately 73 families attended the Transition Fair and they represented all Jordan School District special schools, high schools, and some of our middle schools. South Valley School Student Body Officers volunteered, greeting families, helping at the registration table, and distributing refreshments.

We appreciate the 32 outside agencies for participating and showing support for students. Many parents expressed appreciation for the event saying it provided them with great information.

Thanks to Health Choice Utah, Crumbl, Swig, Chick-Fil-A and others for their support and donations.

A huge thank you to teachers and staff as well, for promoting the event and reaching out to students and families to encourage their participation.

It was a great night supporting families and students, giving them information to support  future success.

Conference Unites Young Women with Utah Tech Leaders

JSD Students at SheTech Conference 365 Jordan School District girls joined 1,700 9th-12th grade students from around Utah at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy for the annual SheTech Explorer Day. The one-day event helps young women see themselves growing into future careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Students met with executives and mentors from tech companies and universities at the event to learn more about available opportunities. The conference allowed participants to see real examples of successful women in careers as scientists, engineers, analysts, and more.

Thank you to the hosts of SheTech Explorer Day for allowing JSD students to collaborate and learn about future careers in STEM and Tech. It was an excellent educational opportunity.
