Students Enjoy the Greatest Crunch on Earth During Apple Crunch Day

Students, teachers, and staff, enjoyed a sweet treat before heading out for fall break. They got to bite into a delicious apple, celebrating “Apple Crunch Day,” a little bit early.

Each October, schools across Utah celebrate National Farm to School Month by crunching into Utah-grown apples. “Apple Crunch Day” is a way to get students excited about delicious local produce, help them understand where their food comes from, and a way to support local farmers.

This year the 35,000 apples served up for “Apple Crunch Day” in Jordan School District came from Pyne Farms in Santaquin, Utah. We hope everyone enjoyed their healthy snack, biting into a crisp, juicy apple with fellow students and staff.

Celebrating National School Lunch Week

It is always fun to be in our school cafeterias, but this week there is even more fun to go along with the great food. That’s because this is National School Lunch Week, a time to celebrate the delicious and nutritious meals served up every day by our amazing school lunch staff. The theme for this week is “School Lunch Pirates, Find Your Treasure.” At Ridge View Elementary School they are embracing the theme with lunch workers dressed up as pirates, inviting students to walk the plank to get meals with pirate themed names.

Jordan School District cafeterias serve more than 30,000 meals every single day thanks to the dedication and hard work of 500 cafeteria employees. Fresh bread and desserts are made from scratch, as well as lasagna, chili, chicken enchiladas, even calzones. The most popular menu items are mandarin orange chicken, pizza, and corn dogs.

Thanks to our great cafeteria workers for making every day such a wonderful dining experience for students, teachers, staff, and parents!
