Mountain Ridge and Riverton High Chinese Students Dominate 2024 Business Language Competition

They are using their language skills to reach new heights and their success in a recent state competition is just one example. Recently, Brigham Young University hosted the 2024 High School Business Language Competition, where students from across Utah were able to showcase their language and business skills. The event featured five languages, Chinese, Spanish, French, Arabic, and German.  A total of 22 Chinese teams competed in a tight race.

With the guidance of their coach Mrs. Wei Wei, Mountain Ridge High School’s Miles Garber, Kylie White, and Brynlee Dalton took first place, while Riverton High School’s Gracie Nelson, Clancy Wan, and Olivia Stott earned third. Both teams stood out for their creative and culturally informed strategies.

This year’s challenge focused on supporting the Busankam Wola Foundation, which empowers marginalized women and children in Ghana. The Foundation teaches women to weave unique baskets for global sale, helping them generate income and build skills. Proceeds support the creation of sewing schools to train future generations.

Students were tasked with creating marketing strategies to expand the Foundation’s reach, tackling challenges such as brand recognition and adapting products for diverse markets. Both teams impressed judges with their thoughtful solutions, showcasing the power of language and cultural understanding in addressing real-world challenges.

Congratulations to Mountain Ridge and Riverton High School’s Chinese program for their remarkable achievements! These students exemplify the importance of combining language skills with global business insight.

Mountain Ridge High School Students Kick Off Season of Giving

It was a fun and reflective morning at Mountain Ridge High School as students kicked off their annual holiday fundraising campaign with emotional videos, fantastic performances, and just plain fun. All the money collected this year will go to the local Millie’s Princess Foundation, which is dedicated to providing financial support and hope to families affected by childhood cancer. The students didn’t waste any time trying to break the fundraising goal from prior years. Before the assembly was over, the collection jug made its way through the crowd and students responded generously with hundreds of dollars already donated.

Thank you, Mountain Ridge High, for caring about your community and finding ways to support those who have a need during the holidays and beyond.

Copper Hill High School Students Surprise Ten Elementary Schools with the Gift of Money; Hoping to Provide for the Many Needs of Children & Families This Holiday Season

Students at Copper Hills High School are beginning this holiday season by giving back, hoping to make a difference in the lives of more than 6,000 elementary school children and their families. The high school students do a month-long charity fundraiser every December, Paws for a Cause, and last year they raised enough money to take care of younger kids this Christmas.

Today the high school students traveled from one elementary school to another surprising principals and the younger students with checks for $3,500. It is money to be used on things like warm winter coats for kids, mittens, socks, and food to tide families over during the winter break. Copper Hills High cheerleaders, mascots and administrators joined the student body leaders in presenting the checks.

Elementary school principals thanked the high school students for their outpouring of love and support, especially this time of year when the needs are so great.

Way to go Copper Hills High School! Keep up the great work taking care of your community.

Celebrating Success: Bastain Elementary Holds Out of This World Party

Bastian Elementary’s Kindergarten classes embarked on a very important mission this fall: mastering all their letter names and sounds by November. To celebrate their stellar achievements, the kindergartners had an “out of this world” glow party in the gym, complete with students dressed up in Syfy space suits, a black light dance party, and a special visit from their assistant principal, Mr. Dahl, dressed as an astronaut.

Congratulations, students, for reaching your goals! Also, great job, Bastian Elementary staff, for creating an unforgettable party and showing students the sky is not the limit.
