With the Lunar New Year celebrations starting, students enrolled in the Chinese dual immersion program (DLI) at Southland Elementary took the opportunity to use their new cultural skills to teach other students about Chinese cultural traditions. The DLI students showed how to use a Chinese yo-yo and chopstix, crafted with paper cutouts, and wrote traditional couplets to hang at home. Students from all grades at the school had a chance to participate in the events and learn from their DLI peers.
Great job, Southland teachers and students, for bringing Lunar New Year celebrations and knowledge to the whole school. Keep up the great work!
