For the second consecutive season, Riverton High School is the 6A UHSAA Girls Softball Champion! The Silverwolves prevailed in an all-Jordan District Championship matchup over Bingham. The Miners won game one 3-1, but Riverton rallied to win game two 5-3, forcing a winner-take-all championship game. Bingham held a narrow 6-5 lead heading into the sixth inning in the decisive third game, but Riverton scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on to win 10-7 and take home the trophy.
Riverton’s Peyton Sanchez finished with four hits, and Grace Leary hit a bases-clearing triple late to put the Silverwolves ahead for good. Congrats to both Riverton and Bingham for excellent seasons and to Riverton for capturing its fourth softball title in five years!
