Students in Ms. Fisher’s fifth-grade class at Bluffdale Elementary were among the many across the United States to ring bells in celebration this afternoon as part of Bells Across America. The bells commemorate the moment on September 17, 1787, at 2 pm MST when the Continental Congress began signing the Constitution of the United States. As part of their Constitution Day, students also played “Preamble Scramble”, completing a puzzle of the Preamble of the Constitution, and reciting it from memory.
Students from Bluffdale Elementary also read the Constitution at Bluffdale City Hall. They were joined by Mayor Natalie Hall, community leaders, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Founding Fathers actors in the live reading.
