It was an unforgettable evening for the Monte Vista Elementary community! The school’s lawn was aglow with the warmth of over 400 families and neighbors who gathered to celebrate the traditional Chinese holiday, the Mid-Autumn Festival. With clear skies overhead and a brilliant moon lighting up the night, it was a picture-perfect setting for a night of cultural celebration and togetherness.
Students and their families explored 10 different stations offering traditional Chinese treats and fun, interactive games. Everyone had the chance to immerse themselves in key aspects of Chinese culture, enjoying captivating Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, a graceful Taichi performance, and exciting Chinese yo-yo performances. It was an excellent opportunity to learn and experience something new.
To make the most of the beautiful autumn night, the Salt Lake Astronomical Society brought telescopes for a fantastic session of stargazing. Families spread out on blankets, admired the beauty of the moon, and enjoyed the festive, welcoming atmosphere. Monte Vista organizers were absolutely thrilled with the incredible turnout and community spirit, noting that the perfect weather and the brilliant moon truly made the night special.
Great job to everyone at Monte Vista Elementary School who made the event a vibrant and enriching experience. Keep up the fantastic work!
