Snow Removal Savings from Mild Winter Benefiting JSD Water Conservation
As a Board, we are always mindful of water usage in Jordan School District, making conservation a high priority. We are happy to report that significant snow removal savings are allowing us to enhance conservation efforts with the purchase of additional
automated Weather Track smart clocks. The clocks help conserve water by automatically adjusting our watering schedules based on real-time weather data, such as rainfall, temperature, and excessive wind.
Additional conservation efforts include: no daytime watering when possible, limiting watering stations to operate twice per week, immediate repair of broken sprinkler heads, and swift correction of spray pattern issues.
What You Should Know About the School LAND Trust Program
As a Board, we often receive questions about the School LAND Trust Program. Here’s what you should know. The Utah Trust Lands Administration manages millions of acres of land to generate revenue through leasing and sales, and that revenue is distributed
to K-12 schools. This year, $111.3 million is going to Utah Public Schools based on a per-pupil formula.
Parents on School Community Councils, along with the school principal and teachers, decide how best to spend the money at their school. School LAND Trust money must be used to improve student achievement. That is done in a variety of ways, such as:
- Reducing class sizes
- Investing in technology
- Providing professional development
- Implementing early intervention programs
If you would like to get involved with your School Community Council, please contact your school principal.

celebrated many successes in their journey toward graduation and making dreams come true. We wish every graduate the very best in their future pursuits.
Board Approves Funding for Extensive West Jordan High School Remodel
Work will begin this summer on extensive renovations to the 45-year-old West Jordan High School. As a Board, we decided to remodel rather than rebuild WJHS, saving taxpayers well over $100 million dollars. The upgrades include things like: more natural lighting, ADA accessibility, new flooring, upgrades to the cafeteria and media center, collaboration spaces, along with a brand-new dance room, weight room, and gym. The renovations are scheduled for completion in November of 2029.
