Some students at West Jordan High School wanted to make it easier and more affordable for everyone to feel good and go to prom this year. That’s why they organized a pre-prom “Self-Care Event” at the school. It was an event to help students prepare for prom and feel really good about themselves without breaking the bank.
The event offered things like free men’s and women’s haircuts, styling, braiding, even wigs for those who may have wanted a whole new look for a night. There were also free manicures, teeth whitening, eyebrow tinting and waxing, lash lifts, along with free jewelry, prom dresses, and suits. Students were also able to make their own beautiful corsages and boutonnieres for prom, which was Saturday night for West Jordan High.
The group of students who organized this amazing event belong to a program called “Sources of Strength,” and members are peer leaders who work very hard to increase student belonging at West Jordan High. Art and Photography teacher Robyn Briggs is their advisor and she helped to plan and bring everyone together.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this such an incredible experience for students, including the community partners!
