JATC Students Partner With ‘Slow the Flow’ for Water-Wise Project at Governor’s Mansion

Landscape Architecture students in Jordan School District recently launched a new Profession-Based Experiences program as part of the “Governor’s Mansion Goes Waterwise” initiative.

Led by JATC South instructor Margaret Ward, students partnered with the Slow the Flow state educational program to remove grass in the park strip of the Governor’s Mansion to help conserve water. In Phase 1, students volunteered their time to plant water-wise vegetation along already installed drip irrigation lines. During Phase 2, CTE students will grow drought-tolerant plant varieties at the JATC South Greenhouse and plant them in the spring.

Great work to everyone who helped create a fun, meaningful project to get JSD CTE students involved in water conservation while learning about horticulture in semi-arid environments.
